Rising From The Ashes: Part I

24 Jul

Some may already know, but GST Motorsports and N1 Concepts are working together to build a BRZ that is going to be nothing short of frighteningly insane. Dubbed the name “Phoenix 86” from its past life as a “burn-victim” insurance claim, the plans of both shops are to bring her from the ashes to become one of the fastest, if not fastest BRZ/FRS/GT86 in the world. It’s said that a newborn babies eye sight is initially just black and white. So with Phoenix receiving her own “rebirth”, I processed these first images in black and white to mirror that newborn baby effect.

Originally the plan was to handle the media blasting ourselves using walnut shells. Unfortunately, the media blaster we had access too, wasn’t suited too well for walnut shells. After spending some time blasting ourselves, it was clear it was going to take a very long time doing it ourselves.

Unlike some race car builds, Phoenix 86’s main builders and fabricators are the same two guys who put countless hours into the GST Motorsports “L”. Pictured above is those two gentlemen, Keith and Earl.

Handling the welding of the “GST Auto Rotisserie”, seam welding, cage welding, and pretty much 95% of all the other welding Phoenix will take on, is none other than Zalo of Zalo Fabrications.
