I finally made it to a Golden Gate Drift Pro Am event and I had a great time. So great I was actually upset Round 4 was the last round of the season. Hopefully next year I can make it out to all of their events.

It’s easy to sit back at home watching TV or playing a game on your phone and let life pass you by. In this day and age, there is always something going on somewhere. But will the trip be worth your time? Your money? Will you regret going out? What if something happens you weren’t expecting? Would you be ok missing it? Whether you go out and decide to explore life, the one thing you have to remember is that you never know what can happen. Your plans might be pretty straight forward and planned out, but life can throw in a curve ball and change everything.
Attending last week’s Sonoma Drift event was an exploring mission of my own. And I couldn’t be happier for taking it on. Not only did I get a chance to photograph some local amateur drifters, but I also got to photograph and watch a Formula Drift Pro do his thing. Funny thing is that I didn’t even know it was him till a day or two later, and although the FD3S looked strikingly similar to the Falken Tire FD, I chalked it up that it belonged to a local amateur.
Turns out I was half right. Car belonged to a local, but it wasn’t an amateur driver. The man behind the wheel was FD Pro Driver Calvin Wan. Could this be Calvin preparing for a FD comeback? Or just out having some Wednesday night fun? Either way it was great to see him out there and hope its not the last time.
